Gunter Guirten
began refereeing in Oklahoma in 1960 shortly after arriving from his native Germany. He was one of the first four registered referees in Oklahoma and assisted in the development of instruction, assessment, and assignments of referees in the Oklahoma City area. Gunter also officiated at the professional games in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Gunter also assisted in the development of the high school and college referee associations.
 

 

Tom Iadevaia was one of the first organizers of soccer in Northeastern Oklahoma.
Arriving in Tulsa, quickly joined an adult soccer team and through his work at American Airlines helped found the Northeast Adult Soccer Association and the Oklahoma Soccer Association. His contributions to soccer include refereeing, coaching, and administering at the local and national level with USSF and USYS. Tom served as OSA's Chairman on two different occasions.

 

Don Jones became Green Country's first president when he and other parents formed the
organization in order to develop the sport in the Tulsa. With Don's leadership, GCSA grew from a few hundred players to over 6,000 in one year. He assisted Tom Iadevaia in bringing Pele to Tulsa for soccer development and was Oklahoma's first Youth Commissioner and served as OSA's Chairman.

 

David Yockel was instrumental in providing the Ione Soccer Club, Lake Overholser, and Frontier Country organizations with tournament leadership. While serving as coach, referee, and administrator, David worked at the club level as site administrator for many tournaments and eventually sought office at the state level where he served as VP of recreational soccer. The development of OSA's TOPSoccer program for mentally and physically challenged youngsters occurred under David's direction.
