Hall of Fame Class of 2011
OSA's Hall of Fame Class of 2011 will be inducted January 28 at the Embassy Suites in Norman, OK. Four members have been selected for the honor: Keith Eddy, Clay Randolph, Kerry Shubert, and Dale Watts. The ceremony honoring the four inductees will be at 6:30pm followed by a reception at 9pm. The event is open to the public and OSA encourages friends and family to attend and participate in the ceremony.
Keith Eddy, English professional soccer player who moved to Tulsa after playing with the New York Cosmos, started the Tulsa Soccer Club as a way to develop young soccer players in the state. Recently retired as Director of Coaching for TSC, Keith inspired hundreds of youth soccer players and provided the basis for the development of competitive soccer throughout the state.
Clay Randolph, a founding father of soccer in the Moore area, began his coaching career working with U8 players and eventually served as a club administrator, referee, referee instructor, and player with the Central Oklahoma Adult Soccer League. A tireless volunteer for the sport, Clay also was instrumental in developing high school soccer in the OKC area.
Kerry Shubert, a Broken Arrow native, rose through the ranks of Oklahoma soccer players to play college soccer and semi-professional soccer in OKC. After his playing days, he turned to coaching at the high school and collegiate levels. His HFC girls' team recently achieved a #1 ranking in the country and he owns and operates Soccer City, an indoor facility in Tulsa.
Dale Watts, editor of the OSA Smoke Signals, began his soccer career as a coach and referee. Using his skills as a teacher, he standardized referee instruction throughout the state, volunteered through his Central Tulsa Soccer Club as officer and assignor, and upon retirement joined OSA as Director of Publications. He worked to develop high school soccer in Oklahoma and is a long time member of the high school soccer coaches association.
Congratulations to these four nominees and a heart-felt thanks for their many contributions to Oklahoma Soccer!
