Weather, storms and rain have caused havoc this month with the tournament schedule and our ability to get our President’s Cup Finals and State Cup Preliminaries played. We have appreciated your cooperation, support and understanding as we find the best solution to play these events. Our board and staff have been monitoring the weather, field complexes and working tirelessly to find the best solutions for this weekend.
We will have some games on the soccer turf fields at Putnam City North and Putnam City West, and we continue to look for additional options. We also had to give priority to the President’s Cup quarterfinal, semi-final and finals games to play on the turf fields to decide the Oklahoma Representatives that go to Regionals June 12-14. These games did not remain as previously scheduled due to having the two turf fields available.
We have attempted to limit coaching conflicts but with the schedule adjustments and in utilizing three different complexes/fields, this will not be possible to meet all coaching conflicts – please have an assistant or club staff coach ready to help with your team. If you have hotel rooms reserved through Successful Sporting Events, please contact Lindsey LaZaroff at www.successfulsportingevents.com and she can make the room adjustments for next weekend.
Additional changes include:
U11 & U12 President Cup games have been moved to May 30 & 31 because of field availability and need to get the U13-U17 Regional teams qualified.
The U11 and U12 State Cup games remain on this weekend because they need to get pool play done for the following weekend finals.
These age groups have moved:
U17 Girls State Final-scheduled on turf
U18 Boys Final-scheduled on turf
U16 Boys pool play west vs. west scheduled on turf
If you need medical assistance, pre-game taping, OSOI will be at near field 5 of the Edmond Soccer Complex – please stop there before your game if you are playing off site.
Your flexibility and cooperation is most needed at this time – depending on the weather – rain amounts and lighting, further changes may be necessary and could include:
Stoppages of game play.Movement of games from Saturday to Sunday to Monday.
Movement of games to another complex.
Games moving to the May 30-31 weekend.
Current games are playing full time but may require adjusted times.
All changes will be communicated from the tournament staff to the team coach and managers by email, text and/or phone – please contact your team parents and do not call the office for updates. For any concerns or issues on this revised tournament schedule, please feel free to contact:
Competitive Team Tryouts:
Competitive team tryout signing period is the Saturday following completion of the State Cup Tournament, this date will now move from Saturday, May 30 to Saturday, June 6.
OSA is looking at ways to continue to improve both State Cup and Presidents Cup. We are looking at 2016 to change the format and weekends for 2016. To submit your ideas please send an email to Tom Wedding at email@example.com.
